Here at Spartan Stories, you will find stories about groups or individuals who kept strictly to something. Besides warriors, combatants or fighters, in a broader sense think of people with a code of honor or a set of rules designed for extreme performance or to prevent determined sick behavior.
Stories about survival in difficult circumstances. Stories where clever tactical choices excel.
Naturally you will also find very tall tales, those that seem almost impossible. True Spartan stories.
A collection of historical and modern tales, legends and descriptions of cultures. Including historical adventures or alternate history rooted in the past as can be found in the Swashbuckling Historical genre, even fantasy stories such as can be found in the Sword and Sorcery (S & S) genre, or stories on distant planets as can be found in the Planetary Romance genre.
Not all stories are written by us or our visitors, the copyrights of course belong to their authors. We also provide stories from well known writers such as Robert E. Howard, Jack London, Rudyard Kipling and other great writers in the public domain. Be advised to check the copyright laws in your own country.

Rudyard Kipling - In the RukhIn the Rukh is a short story of Rudyard Kipling and is the first Mowgli story ever written. In the Rukh describes how Gisborne, an English forest ranger in India at the time of the British Raj, discovers a young man named Mowgli, who has extraordinary skill at hunting and tracking, and asks him to join the forestry service. Virgil - AeneidThe Aeneid or Aeneis is an epic poem or an epic roman that is attributed to Virgil (aka Publius Vergilius Maro or Vergil), is a classic Roman historical and mythical story. This work brings a new variant of heroic stories, with a self-sacrificing hero, and is widely regarded as a masterpiece, that deals with the subject of conflict. It is also one of the early known Sword and Sorcery works. This translation to English by John Dryden (1631-1700) was first published in 1697. The Aeneid tells the legendary story of Aeneas, a Trojan, from the last day of Troy, his travelling to Italy, Aeneas' victory and the fusion of Trojans and Latins into one people. Homer - OdysseyThe Odyssey is an epic poem or an epic roman that is attributed to the blind poet Homer (or Homerus / Homeros), and is a sequel to the his earlier work the Iliad and is a classic Greek historical and mythical story. This work is the is de founder of antiheroic stories and is widely regarded as a masterpiece of epic proportions and legendary subjects, one of the greatest works of literature to be written. It is also one of the first known Sword and Sorcery works. This translation to English by Samuel Butler (1835-1902) was first published in New York in 1898. The Odyssey tells of the long journey by the Greek hero Odysseus. He has just fought in the Trojan War, and now, along with his men, is returning home. Altogether, it takes Odysseus twenty years to return. His journey begins in Troy. On his return home he faces cyclops, lotus-eaters, sea monsters, and hostile giants. After getting through all these adventures, the hero finds himself trapped by a goddess on an island. Meanwhile, in Ithaca, the home of Odysseus, suitors have thronged his palace and are each trying to win the hand of Odysseus' wife Penelope. His son Telemachos believes that his father is still alive, and so, aided by the goddess Athena, sets out on a quest to find him. (By Don on 2010-05-11.)
